I am at last starting a blog—something I’ve considered doing for quite awhile. The more I think and learn, the more keenly I become aware of the necessity to express, to converse, and to write. I find myself in an ebb and flow if intellectual creativity—sometimes having more ideas than I can express, and other times not having much to say at all. Such is the process of learning, which this blog is bound to reflect. I don’t promise great profundity or originality of thought, but I will write with honesty (which I’ve come to recognize as a vital intellectual virtue).
I’ve titled this blog “Hopeful Reflections,” because it is hope which drives us to reflect on that which is true—hope that we might grasp it and live in the realization of it. Just lately, I’ve recognized that this hope is the reality I live in every day. I hope in the truth of Scripture and the redemption offered to me in Christ, and when all else falls away, this hope remains as the anchor of my soul. If I ever discover how this works, I’ll post a blog.
Merry Christmas! May we all rejoice in the coming of the Incarnate Word of God!
